Ripplon-induced tunneling transverse to the magnetic field

چکیده
We analyze single-electron tunneling from the bound state above the surface of liquid helium. For strong enough magnetic fields parallel to the surface, the tunneling must be accompanied by ripplon scattering. The effective width of the tunneling barrier strongly and nonmonotonically depends on the momentum transferred to ripplons. The escape rate is affected by Landau quantization of the states behind the barrier. The results obtained here also apply to electrons on other cryogenic substrates. @S0163-1829~98!50444-4#

Magnetic Properties in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Square Lattice
In this paper we investigate the effect of a random transverse field, distributed according to a trimodal distribution, on the phase diagram and magnetic properties of a two-dimensional lattice (square with z=4), ferromagnetic Ising system consisting of magnetic atoms with spin-1. This study is done using the effectivefield theory (EFT) with correlations method. The equations are derived using...
متن کاملGeometric-phase-effect tunnel-splitting oscillations in single-molecule magnets with fourth-order anisotropy induced by orthorhombic distortion
We analyze the interference between tunneling paths that occurs for a spin system with both fourth-order and second-order transverse anisotropy. Using an instanton approach, we find that as the strength of the second-order transverse anisotropy is increased, the tunnel splitting is modulated, with zeros occurring periodically. This effect results from the interference of four tunneling paths co...
متن کاملTunneling from a correlated two-dimensional electron system transverse to a magnetic field
We show that in a magnetic field parallel to a two-dimensional ~2D! electron layer, strong electron correlations can change the rate of tunneling from the layer to the 3D continuum exponentially. It leads to a specific density dependence of the escape rate. The mechanism is a dynamical Mössbauer-type recoil, in which the Hall momentum of the tunneling electron is partly transferred to the whole...

Using a three-dimensional semiclassical model, we study double ionization for strongly driven He fully accounting for magnetic field effects during the propagation in time. For linearly and slightly elliptically polarized laser fields, we show that recollisions and the magnetic field combined act as a gate. This gate favors more transverse—with respect to the electric field— initial momenta of ...
